The Credit Risk Director is responsible for the design and implementation of independent Risk Management's (IRM) monitoring of and reporting on performance of the Consumer unsecured loan portfolio. In addition, the role will develop and execute a risk-based annual testing plan; including, documenting and communication results, and escalating issues as necessary. Position will be the primary contact point for review and challenge of Business Line (BL) credit related activities.. Job Responsibilities. Build-out a comprehensive credit risk testing plan for the unsecured portfolio. Set criteria for testing the effectiveness of credit related controls and independently test the effectiveness of those controls. Execute a risk-based annual testing plan; report on results and escalate issues as necessary. Recommend ad hoc testing based on changes in the credit / business environment or observed portfolio weakness. Build-out and execute a comprehensive portfolio monitoring and reporting process; identifying and measuring credit risk, focusing on emerging trends and key credit metrics, publishing findings in a concise and focused manner. Review and challenge material estimates and/or the processes that provide estimates used in managing the BL, including loss forecast, ALLL, stress tests, loss assumptions, and credit decision strategies. Provide an independent view and 'effective challenge' to BL credit risk management activities through active engagement with BL peers and BL operating routines. Review and challenge BL credit policies, standards, and procedures. Review and challenge BL internal credit risk rating systems and ratings; consistency of those ratings and underwriting criteria. Approve/disapprove credit policy exceptions. Review and challenge BL loss mitigation strategies, credit risk related controls, and monitoring and testing routines. Monitor conformity with enterprise credit policies. Escalate credit concerns to the Chief Credit Risk Officer. Manage performance and development of assigned team. Provide strategic direction and strong leadership for assigned area. Qualifications. 8+ years pertinent experience in credit risk management or applicable BL with emphasis on unsecured lending products. Strong knowledge of common risk management methodologies. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills and experience. Advanced analytical, writing and presentation skills. Advanced knowledge and capabilities with the Microsoft suite of products; expertise using VBA, Power BI, SQL and SAS. Proven track record of achieving business objectives, particularly during times of organizational change and challenge. High level of personal integrity, with the ability to handle matters professionally, and with the appropriate level of judgement and maturity. Advanced consultative skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with all levels of an organization. Proven ability to manage issues through to resolution; skilled at making sound judgment calls. Strong presence to interact with senior management, regulators, affiliates, and other third parties.
