The Executive Producer, Originals, will be responsible for the creation and execution of a comprehensive original storytelling strategy for NowThis. Keen at identifying stories with news value, the EP will generate plans for growth and the development of new, ownable content ideas, with a focus on mission-driven work. Working with current NowThis leadership, the EP will identify opportunities to grow NowThis? presence and impact on other platforms with short, mid and longer form content. ?Specifically, the EP will work with the Editor to develop a content strategy, borne out of the existing newsroom, identifying the stories and talent that best cross platforms and formats. He/She/They will also work with the Head of Social Video & Publishing to develop best practices around publishing strategies and creatively approach branded partnerships and series packaging. This position reports to the Chief Content Officer. *VIDEO REEL AND REFERENCES ARE REQUIRED* Responsibilities include: Develop and execute a strategy for NowThis, Originals, with focus on existing channels, and channel growth Ensure production values and editing styles maintain the NowThis brand but with special attention to what works for longer form formats on various platforms Oversee the editorial calendars across each channel Develop and own NowThis? Originals approach to daily/weekly topical news coverage Develop NowThis Explainers strategy and execution Work with newsroom to expand original reporting skills with specific focus on creation and distribution of one news piece per week Identify new franchises, in collaboration with EP, Original Series, that across all social channels and new/existing platforms for distribution Develop and grow existing ?On Camera Talent?, identifying opportunities for current team members as well as sourcing new talent for our channels and partnerships Work closely with Social Publishing and Audience Development team to develop strategy for audience acquisition and growth Job requirements Several years of professional experience in journalism and/or video production Proven ability to build, manage and lead high functioning teams Experience managing/producing explainers or 3-7 min. content Proficient in video editing, ideally Adobe Premiere a plus Experience running and growing across several social channels Shooter/producer/editor experience a plus Experience with various style of reporting and video creation (digital-first, TV, social-only, longform, live, episodic or serial) Excellent communication skills, in person and in various written formats (Slack, email, etc.) Strong editorial judgement Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with a strong sense of humor Attention to detail and accuracy is a must Ability and desire to guide and mentor producers in shaping their stories Able to work occasional late nights as dictated by the news cycle About Group Nine: Group Nine Media is one of the world's largest digital-first media companies and the #1 publisher on Facebook Watch, boasting over 5 billion monthly video views [source: Crowd platform specific analytics modules] and reaching 81% of U.S. adults in their 20s [source: Nielsen].
