Software/Senior Software Engineer (Publishing API Team)
Tech at Liberty Mutual
At Liberty Mutual, technology isn't just a part of our business, it's what drives us forward. We deliver our customers peace of mind every day by helping them protect what they value most. Our passion for placing the customer at the center of everything we do is driving a transformational shift at Liberty Mutual. Operating as a tech startup within a Fortune 100 company, we are leading a digital disruption that will redefine how people experience insurance.
About the job:
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our Document Solutions Technology team focused on global publishing applications leveraging cloud-based technology to build the tools and solutions used for creating, processing, delivering, and storing the millions of electronic and paper documents for insurance products within Liberty’s Global Retail Market. You will work on an exciting tech stack consisting of Java, AWS, Spring Boot, and Docker. You’ll also handle end-to-end development of the software that generates the paper and electronic copies for bills, claims, and policy documents that go to customers. Currently the Publishing application is deployed in the U.S. and candidate will have the opportunity to partner with a number of recognized and award winning engineers building highly visible native apps to be deployed internationally.
We’re currently on an exciting initiative to build a new platform from scratch to support these publishing systems in a cloud-native environment. Once built, you’ll help to develop new capabilities and configure systems from a performance standpoint so this platform can not only be leveraged internally but also become a customer-agnostic, standalone product. This is a great opportunity to join a small team with a startup mentality whose work will eventually become a new source of revenue for the company!
In this role you will:
Work with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and peer developers to create technical solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
Analyze technical system problems, and design and implement effective solutions.
Handle end-to-end development, including coding, testing, and debugging during each cycle.
Resolve customer complaints with software and respond to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
Create applications using a server side framework (e.g. Spring, NodeJS etc.)
Lead feature technical implementation
Investigate components of new tools and technologies.
Create and maintain technical documentation.
Contribute to the development of project plans, and assign and monitor tasks of lower level Software Developers as responsibilities and experience grows.
