Description. Reporting to the Vice President of Clinical Excellence and Safety, the Executive Director will oversee ECRI's Clinical Excellence group. This includes all aspects of evidence-based analysis and consultation to support effective clinical care. The Executive Director will lead a team of approximately 60 - 80 FTE's comprised of program directors, scientific teams, editorial/publishing and consulting. As such, the Executive Director will oversee a broad array of programs including ECRI's federally designated Evidence-based Practice Center, the ECRI Guidelines Trust, horizon scanning activities, unique consulting programs for supporting development of clinical practice guidelines, membership programs providing evidence-based information on interventions to health care providers and payers, and new business development functions. The Executive Director will have business line management and budgetary responsibility for approximately $15M annually. In addition, he/she is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities that align with ECRI mission and strategy in collaboration with other senior and executive leadership. Such opportunities may take the form of contracts and grants in both public and private sectors.. The Executive Director oversees and manages teams for various areas in the Center for Clinical Excellence Division. These programs primarily serve the clinical evidence-based information needs of health systems, third-party payers and government agencies. The Executive Director seeks appropriate speaking engagements to represent ECRI at conferences, webinars and also contributes to interviews requested by media and organized through the ECRI Marketing and Communications Department. The Executive Director interacts with high-level representatives from clients and prospects and healthcare product manufacturers. Contribute to the development and refinement of the Clinical Excellence group's vision and strategy as well as contribute to enterprise-wide strategy development.. Create annual business plan and budget for the Center of Clinical Excellence be in collaboration with Finance, Sales, Marketing, and other business line managers as appropriate.. Oversee multiple federal and state government and private sector multi-year, multi-million-dollar contracts. This includes. identifying and leading the proposal process to respond to government and private sector requests for proposals for the Clinical Excellence group;. leading efforts to cultivate and maintain high-level external relationships with government agencies, government clients and private sector organizations (e.g. professional societies, healthcare associations, etc.,) and for-profit organizations;. Work with the ECRI EPC Co-Directors to ensure that requirements are met to maintain designation as an Evidence-based Practice Center and to conduct projects for the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).. Lead a team in sustaining the ECRI Guidelines Trust as a comprehensive resource for clinical practice guideline information and assessment, as well as digital tools for guideline implementation in health care.. Lead a team of clinical and non-clinical analysts to high levels of performance in analysis, interpretation and support in addressing evidence needs of guideline developers and other organizations.. Oversee subscription based series of content-rich memberships, databases, and digital publications covering a wide range of health care interventions and technologies. Work with sales team to promote growth of memberships.. Represent ECRI Institute at national conferences and association meetings on issues associated with clinical evidence, guidelines and health technology assessment.. Work collaboratively across business units within ECRI Institute and with the business development team members from other business lines to identify and contribute to mutually beneficial business development opportunities.. Ensure that efficient processes and appropriately staffed teams are in place for developing and delivering high-quality content on schedule to meet/exceed client expectations and contract requirements. Review content generated by teams for various projects/clients to assess/ensure high quality and efficient processes.. Seek opportunities to expand ECRI's professional footprint as subject matter experts.. Review and approve abstracts, white papers, peer-reviewed papers for publication by ECRI or other publications.. Qualifications. Experience:. The candidate will bring at least ten years of recent experience in healthcare or health services research settings with specific focus on and understanding of evidence-based medicine principles, data analysis, and clinical practice guideline development and implementation.. Global awareness/knowledge of health policy and healthcare systems, integrated delivery networks, hospitals and outpatient practice settings.. The ideal candidate will have experience with and an understanding of the evidence needs of health systems, payers and clinicians; knowledge of systematic review methods and processes, evidence rating/grading systems. The candidate will be collaborative and demonstrate the ability to work effectively across his/her organization.. History of successful management of teams and mid-level managers, including a track record of leading teams through change. Experience with budget planning and oversight; ability to work with Finance, Marketing, and Sales departments to set and achieve budget goals and maintain high level of client satisfaction. Excellent analytic and critical thinking skills. Excellent writing and editorial skills and publication history. The candidate will have excellent presentation skills and experience representing his/her company and speaking at conferences. The candidate will have experience working with and communicating at senior levels within the healthcare industry..
