**Job Purpose:** To contribute to ambitious SSRN goals by running the Classification Department with excellence: managing, hiring and training a team of 40+ part-time classifiers; delivering on team productivity goals, providing accurate and actionable reporting, fostering a climate of continuous improvement. To manage SSRN taxonomy builds and system integrations. To support Content Director in company-wide undertakings.
This role can be located on the east coast - we have offices in NY, Cambridge or Philadelphia.
**Key Result Areas:**
Manage content classification team.
This role is a key part of the SSRN Content Team;
+ Main responsibilities will be to run the classification process and team, meeting and exceeding classification virtual zero goals and delivering on classification of all content for new network and new product launches.
+ Management responsibilities include managing a team of approximately 40 part time freelance classifiers, hiring and training new classifiers, tracking, managing to and reporting on classifier budget, providing and monitoring team productivity reporting and driving ongoing continuous improvement projects to ensure optimum quality and efficiency amongst the Classification Team.
+ Support content growth initiatives.
+ The Director of Content Classification will actively support content growth activities in multiple ways, as required, such as:
+ classification team capacity growth plans, delivering classification of new content sources associated with new projects, delivering classification for new network launches, delivering classification for First Look content, managing and delivering classification for new non-English language content.
+ Manage SSRN taxonomies.
+ To manage all SSRN taxonomy work including the building of new taxonomies, the revision of old taxonomies, and the coordination of SSRN taxonomies with Elsevier taxonomies, such as Omniscience, using Synaptica.
+ To lead on taxonomy mapping projects in support of new content initiatives such as new language networks.
+ Interfacing with operations.
+ The Director of Content Classification must understand all aspects of SSRN workflows and be able to bring the Classification stage into alignment with those workflows, collaborating with other departments to accomplish shared goals.
+ The Director of Content Classification should drive for continuous improvement initiatives, working closely with operations, product, and development on teams building new content management features, modules, and systems. Leadership.
+ The Director of Content Classification will contribute substantially to SSRN-management initiatives including OKRs and KRs.
**Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
+ Bachelors Degree required, advanced degrees welcomed.
+ The ideal candidate will have experience in scholarly publishing, digital publishing, and online content platforms.
+ Experience managing teams required, ideally with experience managing remote workers and working with multi-location teams.
+ Ability to use standard business software such as Excel, Outlook, Word and aptitude with sharing platforms such as Trello, Sharepoint, Smartsheet, Confluence, etc.
