We seek a post-doctoral research associate to assist in studying the social dimensions of a coupled natural and human systems (CNH2) grant focused on understanding the social and ecological determinants of multi-host vector-borne infections in dynamic tropical landscapes. The primary role of the individual will be to assist in the collection, analysis and interpretation of information related to the social dimensions of the project focused on land-use change, human and animal health in Panama. The position is based in the Department of Anthropology (via the Tanner and Velásquez Runk labs) at the University of Georgia.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

Ph.D. in Anthropology or related field from a CHEA accredited institution or international equivalent. Experience in Anthropology or related social science fields related to infectious disease research or background in coupled human-natural system research is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

-Experience with survey research, mixed research methods, and strong quantitative skills including experience with STATA, R, QGIS/ArcGIS
-Multimedia data presentation and website skills with Adobe Creative Suite, Drupal, and/or related software is preferable.
-Language abilities to work in both English and Spanish.
-A track record of presenting and publishing research in scholarly forums is desired.

Physical Demands

While performing duties of this job, the individual will regularly operate a computer. The individual will travel around UGA campus as needed for meetings. Additionally, they will travel for research to Panama and professional conferences. Comfort working in rural areas and around animals is preferable.
