Description:

The Instructional Designer will help the organization apply current adult learning and instructional design theories to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of learning and development curriculum. This position will be responsible for supporting training initiatives and for creating and developing educational solutions to improve the capability of individuals, teams, and the organization. The Instructional Designer will leverage technology-based training resources to ensure innovative, cost effective learning products and services to the organization.

Duties:

Manages and maintains learning content within the learning management system. Manages the regular update process for annual learning and competency modules by creating/editing and publishing courses using Captivate and Articulate Storyline; troubleshoots Scorm courses; assists loading Scorm files to the NetDimensions LMS

Quickly synthesizes information and writes course content based on input from subject matter experts, written materials, previous training courses, interviews, etc. Selects or develops learning aids, including handouts, workbooks, manuals, attachments and web-based tools. Designs quizzes, meaningful course interactions, and other assessment instruments to increase learning and retention

Assesses requests from internal customers for learning products and services, and makes recommendations for appropriate interventions. Outlines the concept for a learning intervention, including defining the medium to be used, content delivery, assessments, accompanying materials, and complementary learning approaches.

Applies knowledge of instructional design, e-learning design, and adult learning theory to the design and delivery of learning programs, including blended learning programs and web-based informal/social learning activities.

Designs and supervises production of learning objects in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video and animation technologies to support online courses and programs. Provides multimedia and web-based program design and production capability using e-learning authoring tools such as Captivate.

Participates in the design, development and deployment of processes and procedures for managing learning and competency validation requests submitted to Organizational Development.

Performs related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Master's degree in education, educational psychology, the humanities (such as history, political science, literature, journalism, communications or philosophy) instructional technology, instructional design, or related field is required

AND

Six (6) months of experience which includes any of the following areas: professional writing or editing, audiovisual design and/or production, design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, or classroom teaching, course and curriculum design, various learning modalities (self-paced learning, mobile learning, instructor-led learning, asynchronous and synchronous e-learning, and blended learning), online course management tools, graphic and multimedia authoring software, and website design software required

OR

Baccalaureate degree in education, educational psychology, the humanities (such as history, political science, literature, journalism, communications or philosophy) instructional technology, instructional design, or related field is required

AND

Eighteen (18) months of experience includes any of the following areas: professional writing or editing, audiovisual design and/or production, design and/or production of evaluation tools, educational programming, or classroom teaching, course and curriculum design, various learning modalities (self-paced learning, mobile learning, instructor-led learning, asynchronous and synchronous e-learning, and blended learning), online course management tools, graphic and multimedia authoring software, and website design software required

Demonstrated experience working with Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Adobe Creative Suite Products, and similar software required

Demonstrated experience working with learning management software required
